Communion service @ GCC yesterday. Tables were set up and people went as they were led. Everything went well and very little distractions. I bumped a mic stand and caught it with my foot right before the mic hit the floor and Elizabeth (violin) picked it up before i fell on my face...kept playing the song (Clean) while the reading was going on standing on 1 foot...pretty cool...folks really responded yesterday especially during the last 2 songs just acoustic and pads...Bubba and Dave were on acoustics, Wil on pads and drums, Elizabeth on violin, Kyle on Bass, Abby vocals, I was on acoustic...David and Emily were holding down the fort in the booth...

It was good to be back leading this past week. I was on acoustic, Chris on pads, Kyle of bass, Lea on keys, Dave on electric, Eric on drums/perc., Tessa and Daniel vocals. We had a full stage for sure and David did a great job in the booth. I don't say this enough, but I am incredibly thankful for our sound guys who show up and do a great job each week! Thanks David, Colin, and Chris..We had an extended time of communion with tables set up so folks could go to the tables when they felt led. I really love the Sundays that we do this...it is amazing to see God at work as people go to the tables together...

Really great day today. I just got back from the Ragnar relay in East Tenn. on Sat. night so Drew led this week and did a really good job. I sat back on keys with Jonathan on 2nd acoustic, Kyle on bass, Wil on djembe, and Keith vocals. It was a laid back Sunday. Amy Stroup was with us this past Sunday for AM worship and then back for a concert/worship time later that night. We had a great day. Our rehearsal Sunday morning with Amy went better than we could have hoped. We had another good day @ GC yesterday. We had a little smaller group on stage than usual...Kelly and Daniel W did a great job helping lead on guitar and keys respectively. Chris was on bass, Jeremy on drums, and Daniel H. helped with bgv. Bob Turner's message was powerful...We are about 6 weeks away from Mark Seekins and his family joining us at GC. Mark will be our lead pastor and will be here the first Sunday in July. We are showing short videos each week to introduce Mark. Chris has done a great job with filming and editing. We started off with a Good Friday service followed up on Sunday with our normal assembly time...We had no sermon today but had an extended communion dialogue/reading by JR and Daisha. Another great day at GC...We are still in the lead teacher search and Mark and his wife were visiting for the weekend to check things out. Our prayer is for Mark and his family and for our search no matter what the outcome.
We had a really good day in worship. Kelly started off our time with Draw me and did a great job. Daniel let Draw near toward the end. I am constantly amazed at the people/gifts/hearts that God has given GC. May we continue to be good stewards of God's gifts...On a nuts and bolts note, I am getting more comfortable on electric and am enjoying it more and more... I played electric half the time and acoustic the other half...well enough rambling...as my 2 year old says, "keep on chillin' like Bob Dylan"

Robbie Seay/Charlie Hall/Audrey Assad concert was a great night this past Friday! Thanks to all who helped/showed up/etc.

We had a great Sunday this past week at GC. Everyone showed up on time for rehearsal even with an hour of sleep missing and things went smoothly. I played electric more than usual and enjoyed that...There was lots of engagement this week even though Spring break had a lot of people out..."where 2 or more are gathered"...God is good!

We had a really good day. Jason did a great job (as usual) and there was a great spirit in the room. Folks seemed excited to be there. People engaged fully in the songs between the welcome and communion. During communion Micah and Tiffany did a great job in leading our time and stayed right with me when I had to improvise a bit...Looking forward to 2010 at GC!

Another great day at GC. Our rehearsals were a little shaky but Sunday morning went really well and the congregation really engaged. I believe that the Holy Spirit intercedes to help us in way that we can't even begin to fathom. Ben Parkinson from Fellowship Memphis was with us today and hit a homerun. I was hesitant about "They'll know we are Christians" but after a few unconnected (well maybe not unconnected) conversations I felt like we really needed to do this song. We stayed in the minor key for the verses and hit a big major chord as the chorus began. It went really well and was something different that we haven't really tried before.

This past weekend was a lot of fun. Josh and Joni had their second child. Josh didn't preach this week...so all worship. The welcome time was 2 of our shepherds briefly telling the church about our leadership structure and that we were about to ordain a new shepherd to help lead at Grace Crossing. It was good and I am excited about Jeff stepping into that role. We then began our long worship set. During the 9 songs, people took communion at tables set up in the back as the Spirit led them. We encouraged them to take communion with friends and family. We had a great day.

Hey hey,
We had a great time in Searcy Thursday. I had a couple of guys and a couple of squirrels (Itchy and Scratchy) make the trip with me...good times. Travis had to feed the little guys every 4 hours. I slept right through the night time feedings. The HU show was great as Andrew Chance got to come down from Fayetteville. It's always good to play a few tunes with my good friend. We made a quick stop in Little Rock before heading back to the home front...

Just hanging out at the apartment for the most part this weekend. We have had a good snow here so the regular weekend activities have been slowed a bit. Mom left before the snow came...Jaci likes seeing her grammy!

Looks like there may be a Square Beans show coming up for their 1 year anniversary...possible Otherlands show in Mid-town Memphis...that's about all on the radar for now...

All is well on the home front. Teal Stamatis is here this weekend visiting from Searcy. We have known her for over 10 years. How time flies. The women are playing Settlers. Me against Mindy, Teal, and Jody Beth. I am sure that girl power will be utilized. I'm about to join the second game. Thought I would blog to keep the faithful followers informed...

We are in Nashville, headed back to Collierville tomorrow. We saw Andrew Peterson at the Ryman last night. It was a great show. Lots of folks performed...Randall Goodgame, Ron Block, Bebo Norman, Andy Gullahorn...just to name a few...we had a great night with the Schallert's.
This afternoon we walked over to the Opryland Hotel to see the lights. Jaci liked the giant Christmas tree. We ran into some old high-school friends of mine....

Greetings from the home front,

I'm a little down about the SEC Championship but we have the Sugar Bowl to look forward to. I think we can handle Utah. Saban is SEC coach of the year and Julio Jones is SEC Freshman of the year. 12-1 ain't bad. Especially since I was hoping for 8-9 wins at the beginning of the season...ROLL TIDE! I'll try to post a pre-game video from the kiddo...

It is official, my wife is missing Lyle and Emmylou and I must say that I am missing them too. So, to lighten my burden, I will pop in some "Road to Ensenada" and "Grievous Angel" and get my fix...even though I won't get to see the dogs anytime soon...

We are headed to the Cooper reunion this Friday. Jaci will finally get to see some of her 1st and 2nd cousins that she has yet to meet...

I will be in a leadership conference all day Thursday and part of Friday morning. It should be pretty good...

New "Settlers of Catan" players have been found...good fun...

We have settled in to the apartment and now have new (pet pee free) carpet.

Mindy and Jaci are in Florida this week with mom. So, I am on the search for food. Gonna have to go to the grocery store tonight. Last night I found myself eating baby snacks...and liked it...

Collierville is a fun place to live. I find myself frequenting the coffee and muffins there a lot...

We have everything unpacked with the exception of a tub of CD's. It appears the tub will remain unpacked for a while. This means that CD's are all over the place....I bet Mindy gets tired of that soon...

We are getting new carpet in the apartment on Tuesday. This is due to the pet pee smell. So we will pack things back up for one day and then unpack again...worth it for no pet pee smell...

This past Thursday we went to the Collierville square for the Summer Concert Series. It wsa quite the party...On Friday we had a picnic on the square and listened to the bluegrass gatherings...I even busted out the mandolin and played a few...

Today we are headed to the Roberts' pool to hang out with Jodi Beth and do nothing...

This may be the most boring post in the history of posting...

We are in Collierville, TN. We are in a 3rd floor apartment. Thankfully we had some good friends to help us haul washer, dryer, furniture, boxes, etc. up the stairs.

Jaci is adjusting to a new place. Mindy is adjusting. I just sit and watch them both.

Well,
We have just over 2 weeks left in Little Rock...we will be moving the first week of July. The next few weeks are pretty full of stuff.

We will be at Uplift 2nd session this year.

I will be headed to Ft. Smith with Andrew Dorsey next Tuesday for a show at Landry's/ One of my favorite places to play (new location now) and some great people who run the place...

This coming Friday Don Eudaly, Andrew Chance, and myself will be playing at the Clinton library for a wedding rehearsal. Just like old times...

I just finished Arrested Development season 1 (2nd time I've seen it) and I have to say that AD is hands down the funniest TV show I have ever see...with much respect to Seinfeld and The Office...any opposition?

Last night's show with Ragweed went really well. The place was packed out and I got to see a few buddies from college that were coming to see Ragweed and didn't know I was playing. Good times were had.

Sorry for the lack of posting on my part...

It seems that my faithful readers have had enough of my silence! (that was me being sarcastic)

We went to Silver Dollar City this past weekend. It was a quick trip but a fun one. Jaci rode her first ride and I watched it all. You see, I cannot ride rides. If I ride rides, then I am sick for the rest of the day...so I spectated...We stayed at the Hammitt's and always love hanging out there..

I have a couple of shows this week at Sticky Fingerz. Opening for Cross Canadian Ragweed tonight (Tues.) and tomorrow night (Wed) opening for Claire Holley. It should be lots of fun...

For those of you who don't know. We will be moving to Collierville, TN the first week of July. I will be working with Grace Crossing. We are excited and sad all at the same time.

This weekend we are headed to Nashville for the wedding of Andrew Gann. Should be good times and maybe I'll get to see Thewalrus...as well as lots of folks that I grew up with. Jaci will get to see mom and mom will be happy about this...it's been over a month and I think someone is having withdrawals...

We have been skiing in Colorado all week and are headed back to Little Rock tomorrow. Jaci Maeve has been a trooper. She flew for the first time and did awesome. We have been in Winterpark and the snow has been great. 3 days of skiing makes for some tired folks. Mom has been here with Jaci during the day and we are thankful for that.
It will be good to be home and back in the swing of things. Hopefully I will post some pictures of the trip next week sometime...

I'm gonna rest my legs and watch some tournament...Go Davidson!!! Go Memphis!!!

Busy weekend and upcoming shows...

Hey hey hey,
Friday night's show at Crosswalk went really well. There were 60-70 folks there and it seemed like everyone had a good time. I sold a few CD's which is always good.
I got up early on Saturday and headed to Springdale to perform a wedding. It was an extrememly long day but I got to stop in and see the in-laws and hang out for a while. Had to rub it in that Alabama beat Arkansas last week you know. I got home about 8:34 and then played 2 games of Settlers of Catan with Shannon and Jeff. Mindy was working, Jaci was asleep, and mom was just watching. Mom has been here this weekend to hang out with Jaci. Today was marathon Sunday. The Little Rock marathon goes right by our building so I was up early again for 6:30 AM "marathon church" for any of the runners who wanted to attend. We do it every year and it is actually one of the highlights of the season for me. Mom heads home tomorrow and Jaci and I will get to hang out pretty much all day. I am looking forward to hanging out with the little squirt. I'll try to post some pictures soon...

It is extremely interesting and I am now officially gonna have to break out all the old Cash music as well as the American Recordings and burn Mindy totally out on Johnny...the price you pay being married to me I guess...the next read will be a book written by Cash about the Apostle Paul...I'll keep you posted

2008 has arrived. We went to Fayetteville for the Napier/Genereau Christmas and then mom came to Little Rock for the Cooper shin dig. Jaci's first Christmas was a good one, she told me as much....sort of.

I will head back into the office tomorrow and am looking forward to the new year at Central...

I have my CD finished and it will be sent off to press this week...they are $10 bucks each so I can pay off the guys who did all the work...I should have them in hand in 10-14 days...then the CD release shows will begin...all 3-4 of them...if you would like to book a show, contact my agent Dan Griswold (link on the right)...thanks to Jason Burt (www.jasonburtphoto.com) for the graphics and artwork...the CD is called Spirit and Fire and has 11 of my original songs on it...buy them in bulk people...
