Just finished the book Yammer Jammer Yellow Hammer by Warren St. John. It is a book about fandom, Alabama football, RV'ers, and such. Put me in the mood for football season, especially Alabama football. The book is a little rough around the edges but discusses quite a few hilarious things about Alabama football and fans. It also poses a question: For Bama fans, is it ever ok to root for Tennessee? Uncle Dave, I would like your opinion on this, yours too Banks and Steven, and anyone else...

Well, this is an interesting question, as is the companion question, what do you do when Auburn and Tennessee play each other?
It seems unethical to hope for injuries, so it seems like a no win situation. The best situation is probably to root for the away team, just for the sake of leaving a great number of paying fans disappointed.
Sorry I am two days late answering your blog question. I gave that book to Matt for Christmas. I think he enjoyed it too. Ok, now to your question. I MIGHT.....key word is MIGHT....root for the Vols if they were playing Taliban Universiy . It would be close. The same for the University of Baghdad or the University of Tehran. I do think I would have to go with the University of Mars if they played Tennessee. Put it this way, I would rather beat the men in Orange than ANY other team in the good ole U.S. of A! And second place is WAY WAY back. :)
I am suppose to be at the Bama-Ole Miss game also! Awesome! Maybe we will hook up with you in the Grove.

As much as I hate Tennessee (including the hideous orange T and that stupid fight song Rocky Top which makes me want to repeatedly beat myself in the head when I hear it), I do root for them when they end up representing the SEC. Now, of course, they always represent the SEC but I mean in those special cases, like bowl games or when they play any Big 12 team. So, yeah, I guess I can say I'm more die-hard pro-SEC than I am die-hard anti-Vols.
I'm definitely ready for a Croyle-Clausen showdown. That is, if they even play Clausen...
As a Bama girl, may I answer that question with a resounding HECK NO! You never go for that horrible, orange Rocky Top bunch!! YUCK! As for Stevepvc asking about when Auburn plays em? Well, you hope the field opens up and swallows them both!!
That's an awesome book and I'm glad to see folks not from Alabama enjoying it.
