On May 16th, 1942 my dad was born. The tell me that he weighed almost 12 pounds. My Grandmama was a trooper I'd say. I didn't meet him until I was born. He was 37 at the time. I don't remember a whole lot those first 2-3 years.
He was quite possibly one of the most unselfish people that I have ever known. I know that he had his weaknesses and flaws. I realize that he made mistakes. But those flaws and mistakes were few and far between in my eyes. He always, always seemed to put his interests aside for ours. I remember him being at every possible ballgame that I played. And he said nothing. He just smiled. No criticism when other dads were criticizing. He smiled. And clapped. And always told me what a good job I did. And always told me how proud he was of me and my brother.
Happy Birthday dad!! I miss you

Your post reminded me of a funny story about your dad. I thought I'd share it with you in case Shannon had never told you...
Shannon and I took NT with Fortner freshman year, and your dad visited class with Shannon one morning. Fortner asked Shannon if he'd like to introduce his guest, and Shannon replied, "this is my dad." Fortner asked, "does your dad have a name?" and your dad answered, "it's Feris." As soon as your dad said that, one of the guys in the class - Brian Whitt - piped up, "So it must be Feris Cooper's day off," and the whole room lost it. Fun times. :-D
thanks for the story Laura...it's always good to hear those
it was good to see you last week even thought i didint get to talk to you much...I hope you are doing well
I never met your dad, but having known you I know he had to have been an amazing man. You are a credit to what he must have taught you b/c you are a good friend, a firm believer in Christ and I can already see you being an amazing Dad yourself:)
Great tribute to your dad!
It was good to see you, too... I'll be back in early Sept (I think) so maybe we can visit more then. Please tell Mindy I said "hello" and that I missed getting to see her.
