Well, I promised a review and honestly forgot all about it. I am a slacker as most of you who read this will attest. I got to see Charlie Robison a couple weeks ago here in Little Rock and I was really excited about going. I got there and heard the Rodney Rogers band open and I honestly liked about half their stuff but the songs that hit me, I really thought were good. Lots of songs about home and growing up in the country so you can see why I would appreciate those. Charlie Robison came out and I must say that he was quite vulgar at times, really funny, but vulgar. He made those comments that you knew you shouldn't laugh about but did anyway and then wondered if anyone saw you laughing. Anyway, His band was incredible. There was this one old guy in his band that played mandolin and steel. He just sat way off to the side and said nothing, just played. I think I liked him most of all. I would have to say that the highlight of the concert was Robison's song El Cerrito place. I generally don't like songs that get mainstream radio play but this is an exception. If you get a chance, check it out. I think you can hear in on his web site. The place was really packed and lots of die-hards were there so I felt somewhat out of place. Maybe I felt out of place because everyone was drunk too, but hey...there's my review...hope to have another one up soon...love me some live music
peace, michael

I wonder what ever happened to those guys we saw at the Bluebird Cafe? Most of 'em are probably out of the business by now, and how many more are there like them (and us) who would really love to just sit there and play mandolin and steel?
Oh, well, back to my day job. Hope to see you at KOGS.
